mx5 based build brake upgrade.
Hi folk,
Just a note - I re-engineered the brakes on my '7' to reduce unsprung weight & if anyone else wants to take advantage of the design
work I did I've put drawings & photos on my website.
Calipers, I used wilwood dynalite single at front and dynalite single floaters at rear. The discs are machined from readily available solid discs with
HE30 alloy bells, 10.5" front 10" rear.
Note I've used a separate handbrake/parking brake on the prop.
The calipers are between £50 and £60 each from rallydesign in UK.

There are one or two more drawings to go on over the next few days - they're done, I just have to pdf them & tart 'em up a bit.
Cheers
Bob

the disks?
do you have solid works modles of the mx-5 uprights? if so could I get a coppy of them.

Hi blake - U2U me your email & I'll send you the uprights models. Note these are just 3d diagrams - major dimensions right but outline
not!
Also note my front upright model has the balljoint swapped to the top of the steering arm.
Re drilling the discs - I hadn't considered that!! ('cos they weren't drilled in the first place) I think I'll leave 'em
for now as I wouldn't want to weaken them & I don't know if the drilled ones are made out of tougher tackle?
cheers
Bob
