Which tyre size
I had an idea last night. I'm thinking of fitting 13" wheels to my car instead of 15". I was going to use 205/60 tyres as they
have the same rolling circumference as the 205/50 that I have.
If I fit smaller tyres then I will have slightly lower gearing, giving better acceleration at the expense of a lower top speed in each gear, not that
the top speed in each gear is particularly low in a BEC. I have found two sizes of tyre that are available but I don't know which would be
better.
195/55/13 or 195/45/14
OK so there is not a lot in it. Turns per mile are within 2%. 14" will fit over a sierra rear caliper easier, 13" may be lighter. They
are slightly different profiles.
Which would be better or worse and why?

I would go for the 13" ones. They will be lighter, and more importantly, you don't want 45 profile tyres on a 7, the sidewalls on most 55
profile tyres are too stiff for these light cars, 45 profile would be far too stiff, no progression and like driving on ice.

i've got 14's at the moment but am leaning towards buying a set of 13" rims to get the weight down. i recon 185/60 front and 205/60
rear for my car, you might want something slightly smaller on the rear perhaps?!

Hi if you want i have various 13's of the race car you could just bolt them on for a quick run and see what you get.
they are all either 048 or 032 so would need to be dryish for you to try them whithout spinning but your welcome to see what gearing you get.

Ditto except that I have 15" (pug alloys) at the moment, cos I have a shedload of em laying around. Really need to get some 13" ones tho!
