Wheel bearings

Does anyone know a cheep place to buy wheel bearings for front and rear disc sierra hubs? I tried Andy Pages first and got £30 each + vat for the rears and £18 each +vat for the fronts, all in all this comes to £113 ish which is more than I paid for the car in the first place!! I thought this was a little excessive but maybe i'm wrong and should just get my hand in my pocket? Any advice would be great.
cheers
john

I paid £32 each side for wheelbearing kits for an Audi A4. From a main dealer...

30 quid each is excessive for Ford bits.

give nyanza auto parts a ring, i just got two TIMIKEN wheel bearing kits from them for a cossie rear for £60 inc VAT, if im correct the 4WD sierras use the same bearings as the 4WD cossie's. (Reference numbers are QWB532 for the rear left, QWB533 for the rear right.) i can give you the bearing serial numbers if you want. remember that the threads are right and left handed and thats why there are different ref numbers! the bearings themselves are exactly the same!

as for the front bearings, i got a both fronts, left and right from fleabay for £14 + p&p, the guys name is grayham, (his e-bay profile is nev9658)

this link will take you to his profile where you can contact him, hes a top bloke and sorted me out a treat!

nyanza tel number is 02476 663969

hope this helps

It may be worth taken your old bearings to a local bearing supplier such as BSL they maybe able to match them some times for a lot less than via the motor trade!

Doubt that there is a shortage - probably just that the volumes have gone down (if they were almost unique to the Sierra which judging by the part numbers they may have been) with consequent effect on prices.

As mentioned, try a bearing distributor for a good price, if there is one near you BRT are a good source for car bearings as they assemble wheel bearing kits for many companies.

Search for my earlier posts to get the part numbers for Sierra bearings.
