atlas axle diff ratios

I have purchased two cortina atlas axles,
both of which are supposed to be have the favourable 4.1 diff ratios fitted to em.

The plan is to swop over the 3.75 diff in mine to the 4.1,

however !!!
the first axle I stripped down , was from a mk4 cortina and it had 35 teeth on the crownwheel and 9 teeth on the pinion -
does that make it a 3.88 ratio diff??

the second axle , was from a mk3 cortina , and had 40 teeth on the crownwheel and 10 teeth on the pinion, I take it this is the 4.1 ratio diff??

I want to make sure I fit the right one!!!

regards, Greg

divide the large number by the small to get the ratio; by my reckoning you've got it spot on except the ratio is 4.0:1 not 4.1:1

Yes, but ford quote 4.1 for the axle, so I see the point he is making!

No idea and just speculating, but is the difference anything to do with the fact that it is a spiral bevel drive so not quite exactly the "tooth calculated" answer?
(ford quote 3.75 and 4.1)

Anyway, that's the right CWP set that you have!

I'd say If it's an english (front loading this is not an atlas) then you've got a 3.9 and a 4.1. IMHO.

If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.
