Which steering rack?
What options do i have for the steering rack? which racks can i use in a locost?

have you got the book?? The locost uses an escort mk2 steering rack, I don't know of an alternative, unless your building a wider chassis.

Bear in mind that the Escort rack is a little wide for a book chassis, so slightly wider chassis would suit it better.

Yes i have the book but was considering that the mk2 escort rack isn't going to be that easy to come across and was wondering what alternatives
i have.

The best way to get a Mk2 rack is to buy a quick rack from Rally Design - they aren't exchange items. You also get the better ratio (2.9 turns
or 2.4 turns).
Not especially lo-cost (around £100 inc P&P and VAT)

PS: If you're building a kit, watch out that they haven't specified a Sierra rack (e.g the MK)

Have you considered a Triumph Spitfire/Herald rack?
Quicker and lighter than Escort.
