AWD
AWD = Alloy Wheel Disillusionment
For SVA used a set of Frod steel wheels, 185/65 R 14 tyre do to bigger offset was was able to bring the wheels inside the archers.
Anyway, put on my nice alloy wheels, 195/55 R15 and noticed they feel about 1.5 times as heavy, maybe more!!! (Defo need to weigh them).
 Thought alloys were meant to be lighter.

Are you sure you have the right offset?
If this has changed, then your wheels may be harder to turn as the scrub radius has increased? Taller tyres might also affect this?

I pick one steel wheel/tyre up, then do the same with alloy wheel tyre and notice the weight different - not sure how steering scrub radius comes into

no, Ford steel wheels and Image 5 spoke alloys.
for sure the alloys are wider (and 1 inch bigger) but the difference is most noticeable.

Spun ally split rims are incredibly light, my 295 15's (they are really huge) are actually lighter by about 2kg than my bluebirds 195 17's
standard ally’s!!
Only problem is they cost the earth

Yea - most alloys are designed for bling not weight saving - even tyres of the same size vary by 5lbs or more in weight depending on make.
So there are big savings in unsprung wieght to be made by the right tyre/wheel selection.

My 18" rims each weigh about the same as a small bungalow - the racing magnesium rims which were on the FF chassis when I got it weigh about 1
gram each!

1 gram rims! I'll have a set of those please Mr old school can't get his head round metric 
that F1 thing needs at least 295 at the back.

You said you put then on and they feel heavier...............unless you meant you were actually wearing them
