seized diff????????????

hi I have an escort 3.54 diff/axle

the halfshafts turn

but the diff/input is jammed solid?

any ideas

you cant even undo half the nuts to take the diff off there sat in a recess!!!??!!!

could be many things like
collapsed bearing
foreign body in gear mesh
just plain shagged.
pinion nut come slack
You're gonna have to strip it to find out mate.





If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

seen this before it doesn't take make surfavce rust to seize a diff

Put it nose down and pour in 500mm of diesel or kerosene or Wd40 and let it soak
