Replacing pinion flange on English diff
Hello,
I have an assembled diff I want to use in my English axle. Only problem is that it has an Anglia pinion flange (where the prop shaft will bolt to) and
not the bigger Escort one.
What's involved in swapping the flange for an Escort one? The diff is currently seperated from the axle tube.
And what do I need to buy? (clickable links below)
Pinion Oil Seal
Crush washer
Gasket
Flange
Thanks,
Simon

Hi i take it by anglia you mean the small one.
If so this is a good thing as many that use the larger flanges have some problems with chassis contact durring cornering. It also means that you can
use a lighter prop with the smaller joints depending on wich g/box you are running.
Or is it that you already have the rest sorted and you are just changing a diff and have the wrong size.
The actual procedure can be found in some manuels and on the net .
But basically strip all apart and give all a good clean and washout then reasemmble and take much care with the pinion preload and setting the
backlash between crown wheel and pinion. And also replace all bearing that are not smooth running.
It has to be said though that having this job done by a profesional for £100 - £130ish with new bearings correctly maintained preload set and having
the contact patch inspected and cleaned ect and also getting the extra tricks to aid a longer life is a good option given how many go wrong due to not
having correct and maintained preloads set correctly.

Hi Matt,
Yes, I have a collection of diffs - this is the only one with the small flange.
Perhaps having it done professionally is the way to go then. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks,
Simon
