renault steering wheel spline
The current Renault Modus, Clio and Megane have the same steering wheel splines as the current Nissan Micra. There are lots of little splines with a
big one at the top and 2 medium sized splines 120° either side.
I can't find a steering wheel boss advertised for any of the current cars, but can for older ones.
Does anyone know if these splines are the same as older Renaults or Nissans?

The number of splines is the same but the taper angle is different, as the armature is full magnesium, and not steel boss like every other nissan.
Why do you ask?

I have a megane steering column and want to get a steering wheel boss to fit. The micra steering wheel is a magnesium / aluminium alloy. Is that
important?
Are older Renaults different from the new ones?

Only the New Micra has the Mg alloy armature, this meant I had to design a different angle taper to the normal steel one. (oopps might have given too
much away there )
not too sure on the reanult ones, as I'm a Nissan man, but we do use a lot of common parts

Boo! Looks like it'll be tricky finding a boss then.

Could you not just canabalise a current Megane steering wheel?
We hated the Mountney boss as it looked like it had been cast in chocolate, rough as hell, and the steering lock was a massive movement to get it to
come on.
So after the SVA we set about the standard steering wheel and got the aluminium centre out of that, which had lots of indents for the steering lock
and fitted the column perfectly of cause, we then re-drilled the front to accept the mountney wheel.

Not a bad idea. The mountney boss I ahve on the seven is poor. The megane column has the lock on the shaft, not the boss, so no problems there.
I might look at a megane wheel to see if there's enough meat on it. Cheers.
