lightening front end
Just curious about the weight saving vs cost of the following, cortina uprights, m16 callipers
1. fitting alloy hubs (receleda)
2. fitting alloy uprights (receleda)
3. willwood M16 calipers
4. raceleda M16 calipers
anyone have weights of original and after market alloy parts?

The benefit is the unsprung weight loss rather than total car weight reduction. As a % of total car weight doing the above won't save that much
(considering how much it costs). But as a % reduction in unsprung weight it'll help considerably.
Not sure what the weights are but I know they've been discussed on here before. A search should bring up the required kg's...

The hubs are a good idea but the Raceleda uprights won't really save very much over the standard Cortina items. You could go for Wilwood
Powerlite calipers which I think are lighter than their M16 jobbies - still not much though.

Have a hunt through the archives, I'm pretty sure I've seen weights of this stuff somewhere before.
IIRC the general consensus is that the hubs and callipers give a worthwhile saving in unsprung weight, but the alloy Cortina uprights give a much
smaller saving by comparison and are not worth using if you already have steel items (some would say not worth using at all due to lack of safety
testing).

I was at Raw just before Christmas and weighed the Capri uprights (modified to fit) with alloy hubs againt the Raceleda uprights and alloy hubs. The
Capri setup was only around 1kg heavier ( 1/2kg each side).
Certainly worth it compared to my current Sierra setup.
