Halfords Alloy wheel resto service
Hi,
Anyone used Halfords alloy wheel restoration service? Did they do a good job? Looks cheaper than getting them re-powdered and mines got some chips and
scratches round the rim.
Cheers.

Have you seen the drongos that work in Halfrauds!
I wouldnt trust them with my wheels...
Find an independant specialist who knows what he/she is doing...
Might be slightly more expensive, but you get what you pay for!

I wouldn't tar all Halfords (or any other retail staff) as drongos - there are some Halfords employees who frequent this forum. You'll
get drongos wherever you go, but don't ever let them make you assume everyone's the same. Some of my local Halfords staff are actually
quite good at their jobs.

I used to work at Halfords and I agree. They are just 16 year old kids that want to earn some pocket money. I personally dont agree with Halfords
'We'll Fit It", they are shop assistants on shop assistants wages, therefore, they should do a shop assistants role, not be
pressured into somthing they should not be doing inorder for the business to Capitalised.

Its probs fair that some of the staff in any of the high street chains dont know an awful lot about what they are selling but we all have to start
somewhere. What i like is when such people show some aptitude to helping you solve the problem, im far more likely to cut them some slack and discuss
the requirements.
I would also like to defend some of the 'drongos'. I bet the majority of the normal punters in Halfords etc are complete head bangers. I
think the staff will have a lot to put up with trying to work out what people actually want. I can understand when they treat me like a bit of an
idiot when i first walk in as it must be hard to know where to pitch the advice to. Its not everyone who needs to know the specific flow rate of every
fuel filter on the shelves or what the thread differences are between the oil filters.
I must say the people in my local Halfords arent too bad really. Some of the best assistance i have had is from the female manager.

I still work there dont mind the comments but we arent all the same and like any big retailer some know there stuff and some barely know what a car
is. Any way, all the work is sub contracted to a company called shine. Never seen a wheel done as most dont take it up its £65-85 per wheel!
considering my new Team Dynamics cost £360 with tyres i wouldnt bother lol.

I had some wheels done at ROMAX in middlesborough and they did a fantstic job for £40 a wheel. I booked the car in and left it with them, so the price
included taking wheels off, tyres off, refinishing, tyresback on and balanced and whole lot back on the car.
Probs a bit more now but still worth checking out your local place.

No offence intended....It wasnt said with much senserity!
To be fair there is one old guy in my local halfords who tries his hardest to help...
The thing that always amuses me though is that, you can sometimes be waiting at the till for a good 5 mins before someone is called down to serve
you....always so tempting to just walk out the door

It's just like that at our two branches in Aberdeen, you stand there wondering where the hell is everyone?!?! I'm sure you could pull up a
truck and start emptying the shop
I've even seen folk get so fed up they've just put the item on the counter and gone away, totally crazy way to run a shop.
Why are they like that???????
