Sierra Bulkhead Bush
My bulkhead plastic bush were the bottom triangular shaft of the steering column is too big... or, the triangular shaft is undersize.
Whatever, its a brand new Ford part bush and holder but there is tons of play between it and the column resulting in a real bad knock when I turn the
wheel.
Is there an alternative, say, using a bearing in a holder that anyone has used?
The little things are now really starting to pi€€ me off

You can get a bearing from RS Components. I am at work just now so don't have the part number. Maybe somebody else will have it before i get
home or try a search on here.

Hi
HI it should be made up of three parts two plastic parts and a rubber one .
Is this for an mk indy , if so slide one plastic part outer on to the column put the rubber bush into the hole where the column passes through you
will See a grove for this in the rubber bush then slave in the two bolts just to hold the column in place while you slide up the other plastic bush
which should be a hard push fit may need a bit of soap. i found that my bushes were migrating out of the hole so i drilled a small 1.2mm hole in the
column and put a split pin through this seems to have stopped bush migration . hope this helps .

Thanks, but its actually a gap between the plastic bush and the column tube. The inside triangle of the plastic bit is bigger than the triangular
shaft on the column...
I'll post a picture when I get home tonight.

Two solutions,
1. space the plastic bit so the gaps are even on all 3 sides and fill with araldite
2. use 3 thin packing pieces of metal longer than the plastic bit, mark, remove plastic bit, tck weld either end, grind flat and replace plastic
bit.
What ever you decide to do, do use the bearing as shown on the Robin Hood site, i have and it is absolutly superb.
If you attachet it to a large plate over a smaller hole you can move it around to find the best possition then bolt it up tight.
