Braided hoses

Okay - think my caliper binding is being caused by my braided hose to the caliper.

The old sierra calipers being much wider had a little more flex in the hose. The new Wilwood calipers are causing the line to snag when on lock so this could be it.

The old lines used banjo connections but is this correct for connection to Wilwoods?

Can anyone advise what lines I need and what connections for the Wilwoods - I seem to recall someone on here was producing/suppling them at some point.

Russbost - U2U sent!

Can I get away with changing just the side that fouls or is it best to change both front hoses?

Before you change the flexi hoses , next time the brakes bind follow the metal brake pipe back to the master cylinder and just undo the brake pipe nut at the master cylinder . If caliper is then free then you problem isn't in the brake hose its in the master cylinder/pushrod area. simple test and won't cost anything.

I am pretty sure that banjos are not right for Wilwood calipers! You need a tapered connector iirc.

Razman,

I was starting to come to this conclusion. I'll give Rally Designs a call and seek their advice.

Can the banjo be changed without changing the whole hose or is it an integral part? Stupid question I know but are the connectors interchangable?

If I can change the connector it gives me more play anyway.

You will have to purchase some aftermarket connectors with olives - RD will sort you out and they are easily retro-fitted. One tip - wrap the braided end in masking tape and whip off the end with an angry grinder. That way you get a clean edge without splaying out the stainless braid too much.

Razman,

RallyDesign said I should have been supplied with male-2-male connectors for the calipers but I didn't get them. They are putting them in the post today!

On that basis I need an M10 female connector on the end to make the connection.

They confirmed that banjo's should not be used with Wilwood calipers!!!

Thanks for your advice.

Right - Now I need to buy female connectors - and an angry grinder!
