De Dion
Hello all
I have 3 questions regarding De Dion axle
1 Would 25mm RHS 2mm wall be suitable for making the 4 trailing arms or should I get some 25mm seamless tube
2 I notice that most De Dions I have seen have the axle attachment for the 4 trailing arms coming forward off the tube to almost the centre of the CV
joint is this deliberate or is it because they have trailing arms already from the original live axle
Last one
3 Are nylon bushes the type that Robin Hood supply suitable for the trailing arms, there is a certain amount of twisting going on when cornering hard,
are the hard bushes suitable to allow this movement. I want to stay away from rose joints for the road ideally
Cheers
David

2mm RHS is fine -- a lot of builders have used 1.5 round tube with out problem but 2mm inspires more confidence.
Any bush that works with a live axle will work with a de Dion.
Nearly every de Dion just echoes the live axle geometry because it works -- longer trailling arms are better but to fit them in complicates the
design.

Thanks Everyone
Phil
What material thickness have you used for the trailing arms, the box section bits
Have you used the hard nylon type rather than the much softer poly type, I know the axle will move regardless of the bush and the movement on each
bush is tiny just making sure before I spend the time fabricating stuff
