steering column bush

Hi,

Anyone got any close up photos of a Sierra steering column bush in position on an Indy.

Got a new one today, rubber bush + plastic collar and sleeve but not 100% sure where the plastic collar sits.

Thanks,

Simon

The rubber bit should go in the mounting hole on your chassis and the collar sits inside this.

Then the sleeve fits on the triangle bit of the colum. and goes inside the collar to form the bearing. The position of this on the colum depends on how high you colum mounts etc.

Im sure someone will explain it better than that.

No pic, and no Indy, but... The rubber bush will sit in the hole in the firewall. The plastic collar will fit inside that, on the chassis. Then the plastic bush fits on the triangular section of the column.

EDIT - dammit, too slow! And probably not any clearer!

One thing to add, when you think you're fitting the column for the final time, wop some moly grease on the inside of the collar.

id did mine with no bush, just the plastic bit on the column rotating in a cut metal hole. Does anyone think this would fail SVA?

Gut ball that was a better description.

Grease is always good. U may find u need some lube to fit the collar into the rubber.

After my first run out today I found that my steering column bush had come loose and that there was some play in the column. the inner plastic bit doesn't seem to stick in the outer plastic bit. Is this normal or haven't I put it together properly?
