The MK11 Escort is metric and the heads of half shaft to axle bolts are 13mm across flats. The bolts should be M8 but sometimes manufacturers use a smaller head than normal. I am sorry I cannot be of more help but I am sure others in the Group will be able to give you the full answer.

I've just got a nagging doubt in my mind that Ford might be using an odd thread size but still with a 13mm head. There must be someone in the Group who can supply the definitive answer.

MK2 Escort

The prop to diff are M10x1x18 10.9 high tensile - available from Burtons as I have just bought some recently.

Half shaft to axle are standard M8's I seem to recall

Cheers

John, if its the axle from 'that' Escort...., that particular car was a mixture of metric and imperial....
May I suggest trying UNF ?

Prop to diff flange is 10x1x18.

Half shafts to casing is UNF - think it's 1/4 or 5/16th.

For sure.

Yep, although istr that 3/8th UNF also fits so just make sure you have the right thread.

Its definitely M10x1x18 on mine though, if you've painted your axle, you mightneed to clean out the threads a little before you can get the bolts in though.
