About Sierra Steering Column

In dismantling a '86 Sierra Diesel, I noticed the steering lock acts on the wheel hub, not on the column.
the doubt is: when we change of steering wheel and hub how do we do about the lock?

thks

It still works with my Momo hub. The hubs I've seen all have the teeth at the back for the lock to latch onto.
