Brake Callipers

I have a pair of M16 brake callipers which are a little crusty but the rubbers on the pistons look fine. Can i asume they will be ok after a clean up and paint or is there anything else i should be checking?

Thanks

Just pop the pistons out and inspect the surface of the pistons and bores. While you are at it you might as well fit new seals - not much else after that really.

How do the pistons pop out? The seals look really good.

air compressor + blow gun into the inlet, takes a while but there will be a lound pop, lots of brake fluid and the piston will come out.

I would use a foot pump you have more control. Also place a thin but of wood to stop the pistons getting damaged as they come out with quite a force. Also watch out for brake fluid getting blown into you eyes, I would were some saftey glasses...

And keep your fingers well out the way I've seen a mates finger after the piston popped out and squashed it
