front calipers bound on

gyyyyaaarrrrrgggghhhhh!!!!

I don't f-ing believe it! this car is driving me insane!

just been out for a very short spin after my successful 60 mile drive on sunday...

got a mile up the road and both front calipers bound tight! managed to get it home just but it is now sat in the Garage totally immovable!

so come on, what causes both front calipers to bind like that?

are the pistons binding or is it hydraulic?

undo bleed nipples and see if that frees them off.

if it is hydraulic, check the master cylinder can fully return and isn't being held by the push rod.

Possibly the master cylinder piston not retracting fully when you take your foot off the pedal so fluid can't bleed back. Shorter pushrod or adding a pulloff spring can sort it.

as above - try disconnecting the push rod from the master cylinder and see if it releases. I had the same on mine on the way to SVA

Try pulling the pedal back with your foot...
...if everything frees off you need to fiddle with your brake pedal and m/cylinder (as said above).

OK

just needed me to take a step back and think for a while rather than just giving up...

Somehow the brake light switch had come away and wedged itself in front of the pedal

could have been worse - it could have stopped me applying them!

sorted now and an extra stop added to prevent it happening again...

thanks for the input, sometimes i need the obvious pointing out..

If both calipers have locked on its the two small holes in the master cylinder under the resovoir, they will be blocked stopping the fluid returning and keeping pressure in the front brake lines. This happend to me, the only way i could move the car. I had to let pressure go by loosening the front bleed nipples, hope this helps.....
