weird question about sierra calipers...

when the brakes wear down, does the slider move towards the middle of the car? the outside of the car? or stay round about where it is?

just had those brackets re-welded, now looking at the sliders, i didn't give them much thought before... now i'm worried they'll not let the pads wear down right

As the piston's on the inside the slider must move inwards to compensate for wear on the outer pad

You don't need to take the pads out, just check the thickness of material on the pad - it can't move further than that unless you're planning on going metal to metal on the discs/pads!

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1

so when the pads are new the rubber bellows are all squeezed up, and as the wear they expand? is that correct?

so, like this when new pads are in

and this when they're worn?

because this is how they sit now, with new pads in

yes, that is how they go.

But in the middle of your 3 pictures the piston would be sticking out.

ah, yeah, but it probably wouldn't go that far though eh? as the pads would be down to metal?
