Rorty's de dion

Can anyone tell me if the standard length shafts (lobro) fit the Rorty design or do they need shortening?

(ETA) Am i correct in thinking that this design is for none lobro type shafts, I have tried fitting the lobro's and they are to big

I have a Rorty inspired de-dion on my car and it uses lobro shafts at their full length. However, I suspect that my axle design was modified to this end. I got it as a partially assembled kit of parts and only found out about the rorty plans much later.

I believe the original Rorty plans are indeed designed for the push in shafts and drum brakes and you need a larger diameter tube through which the shafts run in order to take the lobro/disc shafts.

You can see my design on my build diary website here:

Let me know if you want any high res pictures of anything you see here.

Cheers,
Craig.

Is it the ABS ring thats jamming into the hub carrier?

I'm sure many years ago that it used to be a necessary modification, machine down the abs ring.

Its the whole joint itself, i think i will need to rethink the layout. maybe using the outer push in parts of the shafts.
