F27 steering rack Identification help needed
Can anyone identify what steering rack would fit on here based on the pre fabricated mounting points?
The mounting points are approximately 350mm wide and 100mm top to bottom.
The chassis is a YKC F27 wide body.
I would guess at MK2 Escort but I think the mounting points are too far apart and the mounts on the chassis are completely flat!

The plans for a narrow body show the mounting points centered at 345mm. That's for a Mk2 Escort rack - I've also seen Cortina Mk2/3/4
suggested which may be the same as the Escort one.
You can use a quick rack for faster steering (see RallyDesign for options) but IIRC whatever you use will need trackrod extensions partic. as yours is
wide bodied.

Thanks I have around 345mm centre to centre so looking like a mk2 escort.
It looks like you could have done with the additional space with your engine install I am putting a zetec in this and it is lost
very tempting to go the BMW route with this build.

My engine choice was dictated by the fact that I had the engine in a rusted out Beta HPE and needed somewhere to put it!
The F27 was bought part-built to take a Beta engine.
Being from the "roll up your sleeves and bash on" brigade it wasn't until the engine was dropped in it became apparent how tight it
was since the supercharger sits outboard of the normal Beta inlet tract set up.
Fortunately it only needed a couple of chassis tubes altering and mounting the engine quite high in the bay for it to fit.
Having said that it's proved a great combination - bags of power low down thanks to the supercharger and because the F27 chassis is pretty
solidly built it's not as skittish as some other marques fitted with bike engines I could name.
On that score is the BMW engine heavier than the Zetec?

Steering rack
I have purchased a escort mk2 rack and it does nor fit the escort rack mounting points are not wide enough!
Can anyone give me the mounting point deimensions of a sierra rack or any suggestions as to what this chassis was designed to take.
