Repainting live axle

Having got me live axle back from Westfield welding a couple of brackets on
and the metal where they have welded is all shinny and clean, and rest is all black and gungy
What's the best thing to repaint with, is the stuff they used to paint them with
(seems to stick like you know what to a blanket) still available
Any recomendations Gents?

Thanks in advance.

I just used brush on black hammerite- because its cheap, easy to get hold of and because the axle is exposed- its cheap and easy to touch up!
Mark.

Good old Aldi metal paint, I usually buy some for stock when they have it in, does everything I want. Two coats on bare metal and it lasts for ages, even over cleaned up rust.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Whatever you paint it with, use a dusting of Acid#8 on it first, it is an etch which will make the next coat adhere properly and prevent rust

If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation
