Handbrake cable.

I am building a Dax rush and fitted Hi-spec calipers as the Sierrra ones were junk.

The handbrake cable goes fairly close to the rear coil over.

Is the IVA inspector likely to fail this if he thinks that there is a possibility the cable might touch the coil over springs?

I can secure the cable to a chassis member to bring it away from the coil over. However the length from where I would secure it to the calliper is only about 12 inches and I worry that suspension movement would cause friction/wear around where it is secured to the chassis.

Has anyone any good ideas/tips for securing a cable to a chassis member but allowing some movement without chafe??

I'm assuming they'll treat it like the rest of the brake lines and fail it if they thought it was going to rub / get cought

got any pics of it ?

[edit] this might give you a few ideas:

Brilliant. This is the key bit:

"Crucial to note here is that the cable must be free to slide in the clip - because the callipers use a pair of arms to activate the handbrake, identical to a mountain bike V-Brake design, the end of the cable isn't fixed, but moves as the arm moves. Hence the clip is large enough to allow the cable to move a little. It still keeps everything nicely away from the flexi lines and the various moving parts of the suspension."

I will use a much bigger p-clip as well to allow the handbrake cable to move up and down a bit with the suspension. As you say the standard calliper allows the cable to be clipped to the de-deon bar. My hi-specs like your wilwoods mean the cable goes out forward meaning it has to go round the coil over.

Yeah, I thought your HiSpec ones would be more like the wilwoods, I've got the sierra ones for mine (well actually granada in my case) as I figured they'd be more than enough for me with some half decent pads in them

I seem to remember the very first HiSpec rear calipers (6+ years ago ?) had the handbrake cable more like the std. sierra...
