Whos running what brakes??
I have a slight dilema. I have a mk2 escort servo and master cyl... Cant decide whether to run this or not. Im also thinking of sierra mastercyl
and servo etc.. I want to run standard car brakes not seperate cyls etc as im skint.. I have sierra front brakes and mk2 escy rears.
Whos running what brakes with or without servo??

I'm going to be running m16's with mk1 escort drums at the rear. I've got a mk2 escort master cylinder and a sierra one and have
been told the smaller bore escort one will work better.

I have M16's up front, capri drums at the rear, sierra tubular MC, without servo. Passed MOT yesterday

I've got an Escort MC and have no problems. Don't notice the absense of the a servo either as the car's half the weight of a family
saloon.

i was told that the lack of servo on this type of cars is not a bad thing at all - in fact, a few say that it gives you more feel than with a
servo.
i think its something to do with the weight that you dont need it, but not sure.
i have sierra discs all round, and the brakes are very nice and sharp.

A servo on a car so light would make it very difficult to control the braking effort. you would be abl to lock up the wheels with only the lightest
pressure of the pedal. This would probably be OK once you had got used to it, but I think SVA have lower as well as upper limits on pedal pressure to
braking effort ratio's.

My car is not on raod yet so i havent tried my set up. Sierra front vented disc set up (std except for greenstuff pads), Sierra rear drums, std sierra
master cylinder w/o servo. Pedals as supplied by Mac#1. Single solid line to the rear Tee - flexis from here to the drums. 2 seperate lines to the
front via flexis from the bodywork.
This is the tried and tested Mac#1 formula and worked very well on their 2.1 pinto demonstrator. The only 2nd hand parts i have used are the drums
themselves, everything else new or bought re-conned.

I have M16 front calipers (54 piston) and 8" diameter Mk2 Escort rear drumbrakes fitted with 22.2 diameter Ford Focus wheel cylinders. Standard
pads/shoes in all brakes.
This is driven off a Nissan Micra m/cylinder (20.64 diameter and 50/50 displacement split) and servo (9" diameter). Pedal ratio is 2.8'ish
(can't remember exactly).
Pedal effort/feel is almost perfect. Not too heavy for good feel but short travel and great stopping power. Passed SVA no problems.
Fronts always lock first but only just (ideal distribution in all conditions).

Sierra mc it is then.... Just a thought does the sierra mc have to be mounted at an angle or is it straight?

You can tell the mounting angle from the design of the brake fluid reservoir.
The top of the reservoir, where the cap attaches, should be level when installed in the car.
