Diffs other than Sierra?
Just been bleeding the brakes on my Calibra and took a look at the diff whilst I was there.
Compared to the Ford 7" I've got its miniscule (although its not ally). Certainly it can handle the power/torque pretty much any engine in
a locost could chuck at it and I'd think it would be an excellent choice.
What other diffs have been used in the past? (I know Freelanders have been).

I thought Calibras were front wheel drive like Cavaliers.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

How much they weigh, cost and also ratio would possibly affect suitability.

When they did the 4x4 cavs and calibras they borrowed the rear diff off a V8 holden. Would have thought it weighs a tonne! Aint an lsd either.

Yip, but it looks miniscule compared to the Ford item.
I'll have to get one weighed......

Morgan 3 wheeler
The morgan 3 wheeler was FWD wasn't it? The V2 engine sat infront of the front axle. Not an ideal place for a RWD car.

No, it had a longitudinaly monuted V twin, with a prop shaft running back to a gearbox just in fron of the rear wheel and finaly a chain drive to the
rear wheel.

All V8 Holdens are LSD - are you sure they didn't use the diff from the Carlton/Omega?
What about a Nissan or Subaru? LSD in the WRX iirc

Cav/Cally Turbo diff isn't LSD and its definately off a V8 Holden.
Carlton GSI3000 diff is LSD and apparently its possible its internals will fit the Cav/Cally case.
