Peugeot rear calipers

I've managed to eventually fit my Peugeot 206 rear caliper onto my live axle car but can't work out how the pads are supposed to be clipped in and what handbrake cable to use (how do I get from the Escort handbrake lever to a Peugeot / Citroen cable?).

If anybody's done this, could you post photos?

Regards

Wyn

Never done it, but do you have the fitting kit for the pads? Its normally a peice of wire bent so that it fits in two holes on the outside of the caliper, then goes over the top and holds the pads in, you can get them from halfords. If you go in there and look in the little book by the brake parts it should tell you what you need to fit them.

Using a sierra handbrake im not sure how the escort one works. Is it a continuous cable? The best bet is to use a Pug cable then either;

If its a continuous cable, shorten it at one end and use a handbrake end you can get these from MK if they are similar to a sierra end.

If it needs to be attached at the handbrake lever end, cut the cable in the middle so each side is the right and same lenght then attach to the balance bar. (Ive seen people use a bar with each end of the wire attached to keep an even force on each cable, then the middle is attached to the lever)

Or is that too confusing?

p.s. just another thought, if you get hold of a metro handbrake and a sierra one. Use the metro lever as it is nice and compact then use the crescent shaped spreader of the sierra and the little bar that attaches this to the lever, this will fit in the metro lever without any modification. The attaching bar might need shorting then butt welding back together if space is a problem.

Thanks Chris

My sis-in-law has a 206 so I'll check the pins etc on her rear calipers.

I've ordered a pair of rear handbrake cables so I'll see what turns up and how they will fit to the single cable Escort cable, which links to one drum only, with an interconnecting pull rod to the other side.
