Alternate Lower Front Shocker Bracket

As I am using the Cortina bottom ball joint, can I use the two big upper bolts that hold the ball joint on to the lower wishbone to also hold the lower bracket for my front shocker???

I know it would have to be substancial bracket as the bolts are quite far apart, but I could use a plate across the back of the U bracket.

This would put the lower end of the shock right next to the ball joint and not further in on the bone plate that most people use for the U bracket.

Hope that makes sense.
