Shocks length

Before i started my build i started collecting parts, i got some shocks off ebay that were what i now know to be to long when closed.
what would be the ideal length? 9inch closed 13 open?

edit sorry its a book chassis with sierra track width, presumably this would need slightly longer front shocks due to the increased track width?

Think you need 14" - or whatever Mac1 or MK use up front as they will be the same width chassis and same width bones.

Sure to be sure they use 13" open length even on the wide track cars.
