Depends on which Escort brakes and what wheel cylinders he used, also what pads he used on the front. 8" drums and standard 1100 MK2 saloon wheel cylinders should be OK.

Put use 9" drums off an RS and bigger wheel cylinders and you get close to the edge.

The quick fix is to use a presure control valve from a Mondeo --- these are screwed straight into the master cylinder rear circuit outlets on the non-ABS Mondeo. The Mondeo has two a Locost just needs one. Only a small alteration to the route of one brake pipe is required.

They are also fitted to ABS mondeos but ion ABS models are fitted to the outlets of the ABS unit rather than the master cylinder.

Our first car had Escort brakes all round, including master cylinder and servo. We had to fit a reducing valve to get the brakes anywhere near for SVA - standard book chassis with 1600 x flow.
The second car used Escort brakes with Manta master cylinder with the servo removed.
This passed fine!
