Uprights, hubs and bearings (again)
Hi,
Do you know if 2.8 Capri/Escort RS hubs are replacable with Cortina ones (and in particular can I use Capri ones on Cortina uprights ?)
Thanks and regards,
Michal

I think the hubs themselves were the same yes, but the uprights are totally different.
I stand to be corrected though.

Different - The Cortina stub axle is longer and hub wider accordingly. Basically means that one way or the other the sub axle nut / lock nut does not
work.
But its been a while since I got them mixed up and I am not getting any younger....

Certainly the escort and cortina use different bearings, Different stub shft diameters.
I can't remember though if the bearing overal diameters are different. If there OD of the bearings are differnet then so are the hubs.

That's exactly why I'm asking the question - inside bearings are slightly too big for cortina stubs (by about 1mm). Outside bearings are
correct though.
But the funniest thing is that although hubs are (according to the seller) for RS2000/Capri 2.8, new bearings kit for Capri 2.8 doesn't fit at
all - differences in diameters are much more important than 2mm.
One additional question then : should bearings fit perfectly on axle stub (I think so) or 1mm of play is standard ?
Thanks and regards,
Michal
