Opinions on a rear end pleae.
Morning All.
I've been offered a rear axle set up from a 92 sierra 4x4 cosworth. It will include Diff, Shafts, Hubs and discs, no calipers though! all that
for £50, Worth it or not, and whats the diff likely to be?
Thanks in advance.

Could be ok, depends on whether the diff is 7" or 7.5"
I would think you'll want the 7"

if its a locost, im sure you can make the 7.5" one fit anyway, which would make £50 a good price i suppose. Depends on your engine, if your
going BEC you may as well hold out for a 7" diff, which must be lighter.

I am going the BEC route, but maybe if i dont want this diff then someone somewhere may. Not easy to tell from the pic but what do we think this diff
is then?

If it's from a 4x4 then it should be a 3.62 LSD.
The diff is a 7"
If you can get the numbers from the little tag on the top left corner of the diff that should help identify it
If it's an LSD for £50 if I was you I'd buy it.
If you look on the tag, you should see something along the lines of
83BG AA 362, the first 4 can change, the last 3 are the ratio and the middle 2 are type of diff.
If it has A's then it's an LSD

Cossy 4x4 should definately be a 7" and an LSD. In fact I can tell from that photo it's a 7" so go and snap it up.
Cossy 4x4s I believe have vented rear discs and different calipers to a normal sierra to accomodate - even more overkill than solid discs for a
locost! So dont worry about the lack of calipers and try and pick up some brakes from an average disc sierra.
