rear hubs
Hi,
Can anyone confirm if Sierra rear drum braked hubs are the same as rear disk braked hubs?
Cheers

Hi Locoboy.
Yes I think they are the same. I've just stripped the hubs from the rear sub frame ready to clean and prepare for fitting to my GTS De Dion
axle. My donor was an XR4x4 with rear discs.
I was looking around on the internet the other night a there was a photograph on one site of the component parts of a Sierra rear drum brake assembly,
and the hubs for that looked identical to mine. Obviously I don't know whether the dimensions are identical and I stand to be corrected.
Also, Darren at GTS sells a 'Rear brake caliper adaptor'. The description says 'Caliper mounting plate for converting drum brake
setups to Sierra rear calipers/discs'. Unfortunately the picture next to the description doesn't want to play! (Well not on my computer
anyway). I assume that this means you can use the original drum brake hubs with the addition of this bracket to mount the calipers for the disc
brake.
Hope that makes sense, but like I say, I stand to be corrected
Cheers, Martin.

Not quite sure what you're getting at, but I don't think the drum hubs will be any use to you.
They're the same diameter, but the way the hub connects to the rest of the driveshaft (ie the bit inside the wheel bearing in the hub carrier)
is different on my disc hubs to my drum ones.
