whats the diff between em

Sorry for the pun, but has anybody got any idea what ratio was in the sierra cosworth lsd rear diff????

Hopefully it will be a 3.1:1 as i think thats what im after. If not does anybody have one as i hear they are harder to come by than the proverbial rocking horse dung

Sierra Cossie had a 3.62 lsd rear diff.

the 3.14 was in sierra diesels, mainly the 2.3dl

I got a 3.38 for my BEC from a 1.8 turbo diesel. I then got another unlabled diff that came from what I believe was a 1.6 estate, which turned out to be a 3.14

You can't rely 100% on the diff guide on the sierra owners club. You need to check the numbers on the tag.

Bottom row of numbers tells you want you want to know.

first block is the casting number, ignore that.
second block is the diff type, open or lsd.
If it has A's in, ,then it's an LSD

the last block is the ratio.

314 338 362 392

I have just bought a diff for a bec from another member. It is a lsd sealed sierra unit from zccars
One of the advantages of a bec is that it does not matter what ratio the diff was as all you have to do is change the number of teeth on the sprocket
At present I am collecting bits for my next project. I still have to sva this one yet and I waiting for the date!

Only if its chain drive surely?

BEC's drive straight off the gear box..
