Sumitomo HTR 200 205/60/13 tires

Has anyone have experience with Sumitomo HTR 200 tires? Are they decent for the price? I'm looking at the 205/60/13 to put on a 6J rim.....and am also wondering if the rim is wide enough? Anyone have this combo?

Sorry, never even heard of sumitomo, do you have a link? 205's are a bit wide for 6" rims, not saying they wont fit, but 185's would probably be better. My front rims 6"came with 215 tyres fitted. I have 205 Toyos on 8.5" rims at the back which in theory are a bit wide, but again they fit ok. I'd guess 6.5" -7.0 " is about ideal for 205's.

205 60 13,will fit ok on rim from 5.5" to 7", so a 6" rim would be fine,as for the tyres never heard of them, but after using track day tyres I would not use anything else now,AO48'S,1st choice,R888's 2nd choice, not much in price or performance between them, about £65 a corner in 205 60 13.You pay your money and take your choice but don't skimp on tyres, its the only bit between you and the road

Hi

I have 205/60/13's on my locost If you do a search on this forum there are several refrences including mine that 205 are way to wide for a car of this size
just for info in the wet my car is undrivable as I have to much contact with the ground, and even in the dry, I managed to spin the car on going round a roundabout, yet A friend has a Catervan 7 with 175 and the handling in the wet is terrific

I will be looking at downsizing the fronts to 185/70/13

p.s i had 205's on my mk2 escort 8"wide rims on the front with 10" wide on the rear.the 205's did look stretched though
have a look at my photo's (sold this to get locost)

If it doesn't fit MODIFY it!!

I dont find it a problem with 205's on the rear, it certainly helps get the power down in dry conditions, but have to agree with fitting 185's on the front, makes the steering much nicer, lighter with more feel.
Not used the R888's in the wet yet, so not gonna comment.

Thanks for all the replies.

I should of expanded on my question. My car is mainly for the road.....and I found Kumho, Yokohama, Avon all very expensive. The Sumitomo's are 1/3 to 1/2 the price
I was looking to put the Sumitomo HTR 185/60/13 with the 6J wheel on the front....and then the 205/60/13 on the 6J wheel on the back.
I'm worried on my sump clearance....so wanted to avoid the xxx/50/13 tires. The sumitomo's are not a track tire....so I expect the sidewalls are probably more flexible....thus my thought of using the 60 series of tires...instead of the 70 series of tires.

That's what I'm using at present - I can't comment on wider sizes as I've never driven my car with them, but I do know that my car's handling is very predictable, and very manageable when it does slide.

(yet another old thread re-opened! )
