Silly Prop Question!
Sorry if this has been asked before but....
Zetec, MT75 and Sierra diff...
Obviously prop is different than sierra one lying at the back of the garage, but big question is does it (the prop) have to have any sliding spline
bits?
Or can it bolt to back of box and diff??
I'm obviously having a blond moment here but someone enlighten me please

But why will the engine move?
Prop is fixed, box and engine. How much can it move?

all cec ,s i have seen have rubber mounts on the engine and box so how do you stop the engine - box moving forward and back without damaging the prop
etc
if i am wrong sorry but i would not like a prop next to my legs without a slide fitted

but.... the engine is going to move about far less in a locost than it is in the jelly-like sierra mounts, yet the sierra doesn't have any
sliding bits in the prop...

I'm pretty sure the cush drive on the end of the MT75 box can absorb some movement.

I would have thought that while it may bend a bit it won't allow more than a couple of mm of linear movement though. My point is that if
it's good for a Sierra then i'd have thought it would be OK for a more solidly mounted engine? Assuming of course that people do keep the
cush drive?

Propshafts
I used to work with props and every production car prop I have seen has some sliding joint in it. On the Sierra this will be either at the box or in
the middle by the centre bearing.
Even if the box and diff were solid mounted you need something to take up movement. The guibo would do in these case as long as the prop was straight.
Race cars are now using kevlar based flex discs at each end.
Plus fitting a prop with no adjustment for length would be a pain!
