replacing sierra DIF cv boots

got the horrible task of trying to undo all the torq bolts on the driveshafts of my sierra diff...

i just know they are going to round off!!!!!

any advice...

also, do they all undo anti-clock wise, or has ford done a sneaky and made half of them undo - clockwise?

A good sharp tap with a hammer on the head of each one will help, It shocks the bolt and helps it to give.
Clean the holes for the socket out well and use a quality socket, and make sure it is all held down well so you are not trying to do two things at once,
Good luck.
Steve.

Soak in wd 40 or similar, good quality, and good fit torx head and then i used an air impact wrench, change them all after for cap heads, much easier, and they don't cost much. Oh and good luck too!!

Lots of penetrating oil, impact wrench etc...

They're all normal bolts though IE no reverse threads...

Don't Bother!!!!

Just grind the heads back flush with the 'C' washer, then pull the joint apart.

You're gonna replace the bolts anyway so save yourself the grief (and snapped Torx bolts!).

Caveat: Just remember: goggles, gloves, ear defenders when grinding!

Cheers,
James

i had a decent torque bit, and used a a mallet to seat it correctly...

then using a long lever bar directly on the socket they all undid with out a fuss!!!
