Rubber bushings
I'm rebuilding the suspension on my GTti at the moment, I'm stuck though. The rear lower wishbone bushes (where they meet the hub)
don't seem to want to come out. I can take the nut off the bolt ok but the bolts aren't going anywhere. When I turn the bolt the rubber
twists with it. I've tried hammering the bolt out but this isn't working, I'm guessing the rubber is absorbing the hammer blows.
I'm going to replace the bushes and bolts so they can be destroyed in order to get them out, how though? I can't really get enough access
to drill them out, any other ways? Access isn't that great for the angle grinder but I will try it unless there's an easier way.

Can you put a socket or something over the bush (with the bolt through the centre) and the socket sitting on the hub and Jack them out.
Or Knock them out with something that spreads the load over the whole bush.. again something like a socket or a big washer.

I don't think I have the access to do that, the rubber is covered by metal. Hard to describe...actually I'll take some pics, brb

Maybe what car it is might help.
The front ones on my Fiesta were spot welded in as you were really ment to replace the whole swinging arm.
I'm guessing there the Metalastic or "silent block" bush type I think there called. looking on the end there would be the metal ring
of the hub that contains the bush... then an outer metal casing filled with bonded rubber and then an inner metal tube that the bolt goes through.
Pretty sure garages etc would just take the whole arm off and force them out with a press.
If they can't be jacked out at home then the only other option I can see is to drill through the rubber and then cut through the outer steel
with the hacksaw... or melt the rubber out (I wouldn't like 2 do that!)

It's a daihatsu charade GTti (1989)
First pic: bolt can turn slightly but rubber doesn't want to move.

If you can do it safely, burn the inner bush out and use a hacksaw to cut the inner liner that is left.
A few taps with a chisel sould knock the rest of the sleeve out.

Have you tried putting the nut back on as tight as you can and driving it through from the head end?
Obviously there could be a number of reasons preventing this i.e. thread length/access etc.
I dread these problems as they are always a complete nightmare, heat is supposed to be the solution, but if you dont have that it is angle
grinde/hacksaw/drill.
If my original suggestion did not work I think my next move would be to drill down the length of the bolt and try again.

I've got the hub off now but the rubber bits are still in. It took a saw to get one of the bolts off and lots of blowtorching, took ages
