bolts question
a long time ago i bought 8.8 grade bolts for the suspension.
do i need to have bolts which have half thread and half flat part? or can i use the ones i got which are entirely threaded?

For future reference:
Bolts = part threaded.
Set Screws= all threaded.
Not sure that it matters, in you case, so long as they are done up tight?

depends. if there is a bush or anything else that can rotate going over any threaded part of the bolt, then I would say that is not a good thing so
you want bolts. (fully threaded are called set screws).
You can alsyas increase the thred bu a die should you need to but you should be able to get a bolt the right lenght.

Probably better if they are only part threaded.
I've never seen set screws in production car suspension.

ok. didnt know that term: "set screws"...
will go out and get proper bolts...
i was just making the panhard rod mount on the dedion axle. thats why i thought of the bolts.

My reply assumes that the bushes rotate on a crush tube, i.e. the crush tub is clamped and thus fixed by the bolt/setscrew, as this is the correct way
to use them. A bolt/setscrew are deigned to clamp, and not have a rotating load attached..
