Jaguar Rear Ends
Does anybody have any details of using the Jag diff in a locost.
I was asked this question late last night at work and I said i didn't know but I would find out as my workmate has a couple of them (Jag diffs
in his garage and my part is if so when would i like to collect them if I wanted them
HELP QUICK BEFORE THEY ARE BINNED

Not saying it cant be done, but theyr'e big and very heavy, also the ratios might be rather tall depending on what engine your planning to use.
The spares are pricey if you need to refurb them too. far easier to stick with sierra or maybe freelander.

No idea what the fittings are like, or width or weight but, the rear end is not dissimilar to a sierra irs.
Similar price to £100-£300, some nice ratios for BEC's too 2.88, 3.07, 3.31

I think speedyxjs (?) is building a seven using jag bits, although I've had a few out, and while they will take mountains worth of power they
are physically quite big and pretty heavy too

Cheers for the replies so far. Have spoken to my mate and apparently though not 100% one of them is off a Soveriegn and is (supposedly) a powerlock
diff.
I have been perusing the web and havn't come up with much yet but I will keep trawling

They are pretty heavy!! You can get an aluminium maincase for the 4HU diff, but its £1300!!!
Yikes.
If the Powerlok is going begging, I would be interested in it. Pls U2U if its available.

In my research i understand it a s**t to get out of the car. Im using one because there arn't many difs that can take 400+ hp. Unfortunatly i
havn't finished my chassis yet so i dont know much about fitting it into a locost but i will help all i can

v12 soverign would have had a powerlock LSD, trouble with these is they tend to bang in, not soft like a viscous one.
Also very heavy, but then jags use the 1/2 shaft as the top bone, hence the UJ's not CV joints so are very strong across the casing.
You also get inboard discs so less unsprung weight, this may overcome the weight concerns.

Unless he wants to but 500 bhp through the axle it isn't a good idea.
Has he any idea how heavy this rear set up is ?
I have done a lot of major work on a lot of Jag IRS rear ends from the small version fitted to E Type up to the DS420 limo, mainly the work was
renewing the mounts and the needle roller pivot bearings. Virtually anything that had to be done to these suspensions involved dropping the rear diff
complete with its subframe --- boy is it heavy ie several hundred pounds.
The whole construction is heavy, subframe, drive shafts, uprights, lower wishbones, diff.

Yes I know it is as you put very heavy but without the frame and just the IRS, shafts and hubs. I have been toldthat it is approx 40 lbs heavier than
the sierra 71/2 unit from the cossies. (and probably a bit cheaper than a recon sierra unit)
And for the record I am using a cossie lump with T41 actuator and Turbo plus ecu which with head and cams comes out at around 330 - 350 BHP at the
flywheel

For infp pn;y I now have the lsd (powerlock) and the other which came off an kj6 has been taken by a next door neighbour who is building a Dax Tojjer
and his donor diff is knackered
