BRAKE PADS
Im using standard vented discs front and solid rear discs (sierra). Should i just use standard pads or do i upgrade them with fast road pads?
Do they make any difference having the upgrade ones?
Many thanks

Depends what you are going to do with the car. better pads are harder so when cold don't work so well as standard. When hot for example track
days, trials and other going fast stop quick situations the better pads will work much better than standard pads which will fade, i.e. not be so
effective= less braking. I have a set of EBC green pads that are supposed to be a compromise between road and fast, I hope they will suite my intended
driving!

Matt I had performance pads and
1.I failed my SVA because of it
2. for road use Id have been lucky if the car would have stopped
I went and purchased some standard 2.99 happy shopper pads and the
car braked so well it was scary

You'll be fine with standard pads.
My Avon was and that was a hefty lump.

Bog standard pads are perfectly fine for such a light car - Green Stuff are ok for heavier cars but even they can be scary when cold
I have used Wilwood smart pads which seem to be ok - they seem to grip much harder when they get hot.

A few others to consider!
Pagids are popular with the Caterham boys. Very pricey!
Mintex 1144's are a very good all round pad but will fade if used a lot on track days. Great for fast road though! 1155's are too race
oriented to be of use in a light car and wont work from cold.
Ferodo DS2500's are excellent and I can recommend them on a light car and are ok from cold!
Finally, there are lots of Willwood compounds but the best all round I have used are the standard blacks from Rally Design.
