Alignment
OK. After the bump (n/s wishbone folded after rude meeting of kerb due to adventurous braking) I went today to get the alignment checked for the
rebuilt set-up.
Replaced front upper and lower bones and joints and shock and checked alignment manually doing calcs as necessary and all seemed straight and true.
Today however, on checking the rear alignment to the front, there was a discrepancy in that the nearside seemed to be further away from centreline
than the o/s (readings of 14.5 and 17 respectively). Worried that I might have a twist in the centre of the chassis (on the basis that a slight
rotation of the mounting points for the n/s front would be unlikely to account for such a difference in dimensions - only thing that could be out is
the rear axle line to the centreline).
The guy did a great job and he set it to counter for this resulting in 2 deg of toe-in. Handling is way improved as a result. Just need to fine tune
camber and we should be ready for a track day to shake down.
Wondered if any of you had any observations (other than I should learn how to drive... )

Hi Neil, just had a gander in your photo archive. Was the Cossie fitted when you took the "SVA passed" picture. If so how come
there's not a dirty great power bulge in the bonnet. I recon that even with my oversize lump, I am going to have to put at least a 2"
bulge out of the top. Also I'm fasinated by the pic. of the air cleaner, how the heck did that happen. ATB Ray

Ray,
Yep, V6 was in for SVA and no bulge but the Viento is a tall 7 (I have about 1.5" of the bell housing below the bottom chassis rail with a
clearance of about 4" to ground.
I did have to move the coil pack back and down (couple of simple brackets) as it was rubbing on the heat shielding I'd stuck to the inside of
the bonnet.
The air cleaner was me moving the car out of the garage to do one last job on the Sun before the retest on Mon. I'd made up a duct piece to
connect my cleaner to the air flow meter and the glue I'd used in the construction wasn't up to under bonnet temps so the whole thing had
fallen off. Thought I heard a scraping noise as I drove out! Made Halfords and the last cone filter they had in stock by 3mins...
Hope you're making progress - Does all the wiring make sense? - I forgot to put in the translation for the german colour coding on the diags but
if you've got a Granny Haynes manual it's in that .
Cheers, Neil.

Hi Neil, the German bit is no problem, used to speak it fluently, but due to lack of use pretty rusty now . The main problem has been actually
designing, (and making up), a new/different loom, as the MS doesn't use the Edis unit, mass AF unit, VSS, and a few other odd bits, so am in the
middle, (hopefully ), of the design at the moment. Cheers Ray
