Why Sierra rack instead of Escort?
How come a lot of Sevens resort to the use of a shortened Sierra steering rack, instead of a shortened Escort rack? Those Escort racks can be picked
up rather cheaply, new, including quick racks.
Is the Escort rack not so easy to shorten?

A lot of the kits are based on the Sierra as a single donor vehicle. Hence Sierra rack

It's because the kits are designed to be built using a single donor, and when Mk2 Escorts disappeared from the roads and the scrap yards the
next obvious choice for manufacturers was to use the Sierra as the donor.

Cinq rack might be great but the trouble is the cinq steers from the rear of the front axle rather than infront of it. Put it in front to steer
sierra/cortina uprights and you'll have to learn to steer in the opposite direction to where you want to go .
If you know a friendly italian (in italy) maybe they could post you a LHD cinq rack which you could flip up-side-down to solve the problem.
