A quick search will find dozens of opinions!

I have the 2.4 - it's quick, bordering on twitchy, but heaps of fun to drive. It does get tiring on the wrists on long journeys.

Others prefer the 2.9 as a compromise between drivability & liveliness.

There are a few on here with ultra-quick racks...

Oh - BTW - The castor angle plays a big part in whether a 2.4 is nice or nasty. I have a good castor angle, so my rack is pleasant to use and I get good self-centering. If you don't have much angle (as in the book design, and many kit makers) then you'll find yourself chasing the steering every time you go over a bump.

Standard rack is around 3.5 turns lock to lock and is not bad for road use. I've driven an Escort with a 2.4 fitted and it was heavy compared to standard.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Mk2 2.9:1 Escort rack here - 2.4:1 was too twitchy for me as a road car but would probably be fine for a track day toy.

Escort 2.4 shortened to get rid of bump steer on my BEC, its fine but with a heavy lump up front 2.9 IMHO

Cheers Mark
