Has yours rusted through as well? I'm welding mine up and painting it with tank sealant inside and out.

mine hasn't rusted through at all! it just never had one had considered trying to make one up. too much hassle though. hmmm, my original choice of axle (Dana 30, its too wide, too heavy, too... etc etc) has a fibreglass cover as standard. worth a thought

good call! how hard is it to mig stainless? i'm just thinking the flange round it might not be wide enough, but could always cut the original one off and re weld

:O just remembered there's a stainless cat food bowl somewhere in the garden! should be about the right size with some extra stainless welded on! just needs some work on the flange (ooer) and some stainless wire. got some argon already...
