Wheel Studs

I bought some TSW alloy's from Halfords some time ago, I thought I would just try them on the part built car today. The wheel studs seem too short, I can only get a couple of turns on the nuts. Has anybody else experienced this problem.

I replaced mine with longer ones...

They were a bit of a pig to get out, but got there in the end. I got the longer ones from Rally Design.

just remove the calipers and disc's then use a hammer to remove the studs and an old wheel nut backwards (taper side out) with some washers as spacers to draw the studs back into the hubs

i only had 4 full turns of the wheel nuts before which i was never happy with, i now have 9 or 10 turns at least which i feel is much safer (my wheel nuts are long also to take advantage of the longer studs)

hammer

If it was me, and it was, I removed the half shafts or on the front would remove the hubs. Then press out using a big vice.

studs

well worth doing this. a rear wheel nut once worked its way loose on our old car, the momentum of the wheel spinning threw it up in the air and forwards and as the car sped along it dropped only to be collected again by my chest!

always fit longer studs after that!

seems like a lot of work for an hours job IMHO esp as the studs arn't that tight a fit
