Help! - Mondeo Wheel Bearing

Hi

I amtrying to change a rumbling wheel bearing on my other halfs Mundano.

My question is, how the hell do you get the hub out to get to the bearing? I have removed the retaining nut from the driveshaft and used a puller on that (which has pushed the driveshaft back in the splines, but the hub itself refuses to shift....

Any help would be great!

Thanks

Mark

Appologies if you have already done so.

You need to remove the complete hub assembly from the car.

Basicly. Slacken the driveshaft nut. Slacken the wheel nuts. Raise the car & remove the wheel.

Make sure the car is supported by an axle stand or blocks.

Remove brake caliper, Tie wrap the caliper out of the way as not to strain the flexi pipe.
Remove the disc.

Undo the lower ball joint & sepperate from hub. Remove the fixing from the strut.

Once the strut has been disconnected you will be able to remove the hub assembly. The drive shat may require a few light taps to slide out of the hub. ( sometimes the drive shafts are a little tight in the hubs ) .

Once the assembly is off the car you should be able to drive the hub centre from the bearing housing. also sometimes very tight.

You should then be able to drive out and replace the bearing unit from the hub unit.

A press would be handy for this. Youl probably need to press the hub from the brg then the brg from the upright.

At least for the rears Ford don't/can't/won't supply a bearing, they only supply the complete assembly. I've had the same information from both a main stealer and an independent garage.

This isn't to say it can't be done, but will make things more complicated. Needless to say the complete unit is stupid money.

Probably a good choice. I was on three days with mine Everything went wrong couldn't get the upright off, had to cut the old races.
