drum conversion query

probably a numpty question but want to be sure - what type of sierra handbrake cable should I get for a rear drum conversion kit ?

am I right in trying to source a disc compatable one ?

yeah but the damn thing will be too long, so you'll have to fit a new end on it. MK engineering can supply the end piece.

I soldered a nipple on the end of mine, but it was a pain in the arse..


If I were going to do it again I would aim to use a two piece cable like the one in the polo.....it has threaded sections on one end so you can adjust which cable gets more tension at the handbrake lever end....might make getting the balance right for SVA a bit easier

For my drum brakes I cut the cable to length and mig welded and end on it.

It hasn't come off yet.

here's the picture again. i really should put it in my archive......... it's probably getting on for appearing in 6 threads now

they're from b&q, next to all the wire rope stuff strangely enough.

I wrapped BOTH my ends around the semi-disc/puller type thing and then used two cleats on either side, therefore clamping the slipping motion from both sides...
