Tyre squeal
Hi
With recent good weather i've been out more in my car, but i'm getting lots of tyre squeal when cornering even on slow bends when the road
is rough, it's mainly the rear wheels that are affected
I know it could be down to a number of things but what's the most likely cause.
1, pressure too low
2 pressure too high
3 suspension settings : too stiff, too soft ?
4 general rear wheel geometery, more than likely in my case which would mean stripping down and welding new chassis points, making wishbones etc I
didn't make the chassis BTW
Any help appreciated,

limited slip diff?
my tintop used to make a LOT of noise going round corners at slow speed (not squeal bt there was a runmble from the diff) an oil change fixed the
noise from the diff, but wondering if it would have caused tyre squeal if the car was a LOT lighter

Some of the cheaper tyres I have tried in the past were very squealy - better quality tyres on the same car didn't do it...
Cheers

My mums astra estate squeals easily due to cheap tyres
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Squeal is a sign that a tyre is experiencing too great a slip angle for the down load it is carrying.
Normally the inside front tyre is the tyre that squeals first.
What type of suspension are you running, what tyre pressures, camber, toe-in/out.

Hi
It's coil over spax adjustables all round.
camber is zero.
toe in is 1/8"
manufacurers recommend zero toe in/out.
Tyre pressures are 23 psi all round.
can't recall actual weight of car ( Haldane ) but Cobra ish with 2ltr pinto
Strangely enough we've been out today and once the tyres have warmed up it seems to get better !
I need to sort ride comfort out too so i suppose that has to enter the equation as well

By putting the tyre pressure up the tyres will tolerate a greater slip angle before they squeal. Try 28 PSI
