I've just cleared out some of my parents loft and found some of my old toys, great memories came flooding back, so I made one of the meccano models. all the nuts and bolts are still OK, quite fiddly though, even all the stickers still worked. I'm sure this is one of the reasons I became an engineer.

Do you think the Hornby train stuff would be worth anything? No original boxes unfortunately, but it's all in perfect condition.

Hornby stuff is always wanted I had lots of it and sold it to what I thought was a enthusiast and wanted it for himself
A week later I when into a model shop and guess Who was behind the counter and selling second hand Hornby
Do your research on prices before selling I wish I had

Could always try a specialist auctioneers - some of them have toy auctions.

I always wanted the army kit and one or two others, buying one at a Meccano event held in a museum pre-covid.
I have not seen similar since covid but they were well attended by people looking to relive their childhood

Thanks for the comments chaps, I'll be keeping the meccano, but my folks will probably try to sell the Hornby train stuff.

I never knew there were meccano events, amazing, I'll maybe check out the nearest one to me.

I've also got the same green tank engine, it's a classic got a few of the wagons too.

Don't know if it's an era/age thing, but Meccano just never did it for me. Had a Hornby train set as a child, but the same, it never really captured me.

Lego (especially Technic) on the other hand got me big time and still adore it at nearly 50.

Scalextrix also had me for hours. Adding Blu Tac blobs to try and adjust the weight balance (handling) of the cars.

Lego is now stunningly overpriced IMHO and some of the sets are amazing.

Just loved the creativity of it and endless rebuildability.

meccano all the way for me since my first set at the age of 7.
